I found this little list when I was going through a stack of papers. I really liked the "positive angle" and thought I would share it. Make sure you participate in the Fun Challenge below!
The Cost of Raising A Child - The Positive Angle
There have been various breakdowns offered about the huge expense parents experience to raise a child--The cost range anywhere from $149,610 to $246,320 depending on family income. This is good information but one must also consider the huge benefits as well:
What do you get for you money?
- Naming rights, First, middle, and last
- Glimpses of God every day.
- More love than your heart can hold
- Butterfly kisses and Bear hugs.
- Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
- A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites building sand castles, and skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain.
- Someone to laugh yourself silly with
- You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets, hand prints set in plaster for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.
- You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof, removing a splinter, getting a wad of gum out of hair, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but gets treated to ice cream regardless.
- You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and mortality that no college can match.
Do you have anything you would like to add? =)
October Fun Challenge
Since it is Halloween this month lets take a walk down memory lane. Add your pictures of homemade costumes of the past. And homemade I mean something anything that was not pulled out of a package and done, but something that took a little creative juices! You don't have to be a sewer, you can be a glue gunner, duct taper or even a stapler...let's show off and have a little fun!
Here are mine:
Here are mine:
I made chaps for the kids for Halloween a couple of years ago. My daughter's were a bit too big for her to wear! I also made that shirt (or more like cut it down to size) for her to wear with the chaps. So far my son has requested to wear the chaps for 2 Halloweens!
Oh my gosh, you're tripping me down memory lane. I have so many costumes I made for the boys. If I can wrangle the husband into scanning them for me I'll try to share. I need better computer skills!
ReplyDeletePlease do! I would love to see them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge - At first I thought there was no way that I could participate but a few years ago I did make some incredible's costumes for my two oldest boys. If I can dig out some pictures I will link them up through facebook!
ReplyDeleteI will have to get the picture of my son's costume from last year and the year before.. He was Posiden, (god of the sea) last year and Jack Sparrow the year before.. And I made both costumes, I also made my own costumes for those two years. :D
ReplyDeleteDarling! I love them SOOO much! An that dwarf is so cute. Unfotunately my halloween costumes were store bought the last three halloweens (I didn't pay for them but people either lent me costumes or gave me costumes for the kids). This year, however, I am making HOMEMADE costumes!!! And I am SOOO excited. But it will take me awhile and then maybe I can link-up.
